Thanksgiving is over, we're back home, and I've hit the ground running. In addition to the usual daily details-- figuring out what to feed the baby, finding time to shower, trying to keep the house in semi-order and trying not to throw the "Old MacDonald" singing tractor into the wall-- I'm helping to host a baby shower tomorrow for my old manager at work. As it's December, we took the easy way out and are doing a Christmas theme, meaning I need to get my ass up into our attic, grab the tree, and assemble it, in addition to cutting ribbon and ironing tablecloths and all manner of other foreign-seeming domestic duties.
Our trip was wonderful. The food was great, the family was even better, and Mr. Milkweed and I had our first entire day out sans-Eva since she's been born. We took the Metro into downtown DC and hit the American History museum, and then ate lunch at this little cafe in Georgetown. Since it was the day after Gluttony Day and all, we had salads for lunch, but I got dark chocolate mousse for dessert, and Mr. M had the orange cheesecake. Pure. HEAVEN. Considering we then walked around and windowshopped for the next five hours, I'm pretty sure we vaporized at least those calories. The calories from the pumpkin and coconut chess pies, however, I've got to attack this week.
So: shower stuff, working out, and full-scale grocery shop...I've got my work cut out for me today. Also, at some point, I need to find time to finish the mysterious little Christmas project that is going to be our gift to our families. Clearly I need a little workshop somewhere that I can staff with those eager kids from the Sound of Music. A whole passel of Von Trapps trying to get all my shit together for the holidays sounds a lot more fun than doing it all myself.

My third Thanksgiving meal featured an interesting discussion of what the von Trapps are up to, today. Did you know they all live in Vermont?? They apparently sponsor concerts at their various very large homes. And apparently Maria was really messed up.
