Here are some recent holiday / winter displays I made for the library. I'm rather proud of them!
First, here's the "main display" at the department entrance:
A better view of the ornaments. The fourth one down is orange with a gold center and a purple snowflake inside:
And a close-up of my favorite. I like to think of it as the sort of ornament I might pawn on etsy, if I were the crafty sort. You can't really tell it here, but the details are in shiny gold paper.
This is a bird I made for the wall between the restrooms at the entrance to the Children's Dept. (That's the tail end of the "Restrooms" sign you're seeing.) He sits right above the water fountain. It's hard to tell what scale he's in, but I'd say the bird is about two feet high (and the hat is another foot or so). The snowflake is a glittery ornament.
Finally, I decorated the meeting room for the Santa visit a couple of weeks ago. All of the managers in the building were off at a retreat, so I went crazy with all of the boxes at the back of the library attic. Decorations that hadn't seen the light of day since the 50's were out in full force, while the "nice" (read: boring) things we've always used in recent years stayed boxed up. Oh, the power!
It was difficult to capture the majesty of the whole room with my camera, so here are just a couple of tidbits.
The giant plastic Santa head at the entrance:
Some nifty retro paper decorations (and another plastic Claus):
Yes, that's right. I found a blinking strand of Santa heads. Behold the majesty:
I also decorated the tree with all of the old glass ornaments, many of which were red-and-white striped. I'm sorry I didn't think to get a picture of the tree, but it was awesome.
We'll be traveling to VA tomorrow, and will most likely return on the 23rd or 24th to have a quiet Yule back here in OH. We're all recovering from a nasty bout of stomach flu, meanwhile, so I think I'm off to take a nap before packing our stuff. Merry Christmas!

Oh my, the string of blinking Santa heads are my favorite. Well done!
I hope you all feel better soon--the stomach bug has been going around a lot lately. I think at least 1/2 the people I know have had it. Ick.
Beautifully done, M-L. I admire all of your hard work. Makes me miss living in G-view; if I still did, I would surely visit to witness the gloriousness first-hand.
Hope you have a happy time visiting family! :)
