c25K, Day Two

Just finished my second day of running, and when I say "just finished," I mean I am sitting here so slicked in my own sweat that I wish I could peel off my skin.

Today's podcast was a The State We're In entitled "The Kindness of Strangers." I think. My mind would kind of shut down during the running minutes, and then pick back up during the walking minutes, so it was a somewhat fragmented experience.

Overall, the run was slightly easier, because the "swimming" sensation was gone, and because I ran it the proper (easier) way this time-- 60 seconds of running, and 90 seconds of walking. My cold is also resolving itself. Maybe everyone should take up strenuous exercise while sick just to feel like that much more of an inhaling, exhaling badass?

When I was done, I walked an extra 8 minutes or so getting back home, which was a nice cool-down. Last week I ended the 20 minute run in a hacking heap on the front steps, which was less than ideal. some sort of transitional period seems to be the way to go. I then finished with 10 minutes of sun and stretching on the deck.

However, can I just say something for a minute here? SORE MUSCLES. Holy crap-- the top part of my legs (my shins, I guess) and my inner thighs have been SCREAMING at me since my first run. I can only help that running again helped loosed them up, because JESUS H. CHRISTOPHER. Ouch!

(I should mention that Mr. Milkweed's work schedule is such that he has Tuesday and Thursday mornings off, making that an absolutely ideal time for me to run. Saturday or Sunday will be the third day, at least while the workouts are 3x per week. I imagine they'll pick up at some point. Probably I'll have to run more than a minute at a time at some point, too. Baby steps.)
