We Interrupt This Blog...

...to bring you a special freak-out. WE HAVE NO ELECTRICITY, and we haven't since Sunday evening. And even though we live in Ohio, it's Hurricane Ike's fault! There are tree limbs and entire trees down everywhere. Windows have been broken and roofs peeled back. Really, the amount of destruction this far inland is kind of amazing.

Incredulity aside, we're dealing with this not only with a 10 -month-old, but with MY MOTHER in town. This is both good and bad, but when I found myself arguing with her about why yes, it actually was a good idea to throw away meat that had been unrefridgerated for approximately 50 hours, I couldn't help but find more bad things about it.

*hangs head*

Our friends K and C have been wonderful and are putting all four of us up for the forseeable future, but I have huge issues with burdening people and may have to put the kabash on this set-up mighty soon. News reports are saying the power may be off through Sunday. If the pilot light in the water heater is still lit and we can find enough ice to keep a cooler of food for Eva, we ought to be able to make it in our own place. I need my bubble back.

I'm at work right now and so completely should NOT be blogging, but I had to check in...and put my blogging promise of evey other day on hold. Keep your fingers crossed that the power comes back on! I'm a little ashamed at how attached I am to it.

Well thank goodness you still have water, eh?

Yes-- this is absolutely something to be thankful for. We have a gas water heater, so we have hot water, even. After growing up with well water and enduring dehydration and body odor during every power outage, it's almost weird to be able to flush the toilet.

That might be TMI. Sorry!
