Sparkly and Full of Life

It's been an awesome weekend thus far. Friday afternoon, Mr. M came home so early from work that we were able to have a leisurely dinner at the Northstar Cafe before Eva hit the sack at the 6:30pm, as per usual. Seeing as how we were out so early, there were a disproportionately large number of seniors to adore her, AND we even had time to hit the comic book store before going home. She had a grand old time both places, holding court while she waved to the blue-haired set and then pointing repeatedly at statues of the Mandarin and the Green Goblin and saying "This??!? This?!?!"

I'm telling you, people. That's a night of wonderment, all accomplished without the aide of a babysitter and before most people finished their drive home from work.

To further the madness, this morning we woke up and walked around the North Market, enjoying the sights and, in particular, the sounds. It turns out that singers from Opera Columbus were essentially busking in the upstairs mezzanine, so while we fed Eva her lunch and shared a plate of cheap Vietnamese food, we were serenaded by selections from Le Nozze di Figaro and Pirates of Penzance. This afternoon, we drove down to the Main Library, where she had a blast singing to a giraffe from the train table and watching kids play in the puppet theater. She was so exhausted by the time bed rolled around that she was nodding off in the bathtub, the wee bairn. Such a demanding schedule!

I left my husband to play nickel ante with a couple of buddies while I went to House Wine with Ser and some of her friends. What started out as just an aborted mission to semi-inappropriately salivate over Robert Pattison in Twilight turned into a chance to get to know some truly lovely ladies and, just as importantly, knock a few back.

Tomorrow? Who knows...perhaps we'll go to church in the morning, and perhaps we won't. Perhaps I'll get some more cleaning done before my parents get here this week, and perhaps I'll finish planning what I'll be baking for Mr. M's birthday on Wednesday. I need to run into work for a bit, and I want to get to the gym, and right now I need to take my contacts out before they stick so tightly to my retinas that I look like Jocelyn Wildenstein. I'm off to bed-- here's hoping your weekend has been just as lovely!

I'm so glad it turned out the way it did. I had a great time! I'll let you know the next time we hit HW in case you can join us.

I stopped by to say how much I enjoyed this post, and in the process accidentally flagged your blog as having objectionable content. Um, oops. I don't see a way to undo it, but I think it will be reviewed and seen as ok? I hope!

Anyway, glad you had a good weekend... I guess I'll see you tonight!

I've never been to The Laughing Ogre, but I know someone who works there. If you know Shannon, I work with his wife. I've heard it's a small comic-book-enthusiast world.
