Fun with Scissors

Our dear friends K and C are about to have their second baby. We've been trying to get in as much hang-out time as possible before the newborn phase, so yesterday Eva and I hung out with K and their daughter L, who is also Eva's best friend. K and I were deep in conversation about the problem of evil (we were, actually) when Eva ran in to show me her new hairstyle. Which L had created. With scissors.

It really wasn't that bad, but at the time I did have a few heart palpitations imagining that we'd have to shave her head to make things more even. Poor L was so upset-- she was really just trying to make Eva even more beautiful, after all. K and I alternated between apologies / reassurances and cracking up. (And, OK, I did have an enormous glass of wine when I got home.)

After preschool today she ate a sandwich in the car on the way to the hairstylist. And they worked wonders!

I'm going to be honest and say that I'm actually glad this happened. I think her hair might look better now. It definitely looks thicker, and it's adorable in profile. C, if you're reading this: Mr. Milkweed made a joke on Facebook about how L might have a future career, but I think her instincts were spot-on. Eva needed a haircut.

Please, feel free to comment on how adorable she looks. And just for fun, here's Silas after lunch today:

It looks adorable! The short bob is SO much easier to care for, too. I'm always relieved when Greta decides to stop growing her hair out and get it cut back to that. :)
