We had an exterminator in last Wednesday, and despite the difficulty of keeping the kids out of the house for seven hours after treatment (I actually drove to a library almost 40 minutes away just so they'd nap in the car a little) AND the difficulty of unpacking all our kitchen drawers and cabinets, it's the best $165 we've ever spent. I actually feel at home in my own kitchen now, and I'm not freakishly obsessed with wiping up every single tiny crumb, lest it become roach bait.
It was about time, too. Despite the fact that we'd only seen one single roach out and about (aside from the traffic in the stove clock-- oh God, I still get a full body shudder just thinking about that), I found two while cleaning out the cabinets, leading me to do a crazy insane freak-out dance that culminated with me in a scalding hot shower and Mr. Milkweed doing the rest of the work. I mean, this was not a serious infestation, but they all start out that way, don't they? Also, I had a dream that night that I was eating a tasty salad with unidentified crunchy things on top of it, and yes, you can see where this is going and I'm not going to say any more. Suffice it to say that I won't be eating croutons FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
Anyway. Feliz Navidad. ¡Las cucarachas son muertos!

Ewwwwww! When we lived in Richmond, we had the bug guy come out every 6 months to spray. 1 roach was enough for me and my husband worried about termites. The only roaches I see here in Montana are at the zoo!!!
Glad yours are GONE!
Glad they're gone! I don't recommend you ever move to the city. I got so hardened that I was able to kill them with my bare hands because the grossness factor was superseded by the need to see them dead. Yuck.
Skillet, that's both hardcore and absolutely VILE. I do remember trying to leave dishes in your sink when we were there on our honeymoon,* and how you nixed it because the roaches would feast. Ugh.
*Yes, we were so cheap that we stayed with friends for part of our honeymoon. They also acted as our own personal guides to the city. It was awesome.
