Tonight was a night I've been looking forward to for a very long time. When my friends G. and C. first suggested it, I was barely halfway through this pregnancy. We hadn't even moved yet, and my belly was still well in the "cute" range, rather than the "interplanetary" range I've entered lately.
The three of us and three other friends went out for a lovely dinner at Balliceaux. C. made lemon cupcakes with buttercream icing and lemon curd, which we devoured, and then C., G., and I went to the 8:00 showing of Eclipse, which is the third installment in the ridiculous and addicting Twilight saga (just in case you've been on the moon or even dead recently).
The whole evening was fabulous. We were even lucky enough to have our friend K. come out for a bit, just a couple of weeks (!) beyond her own c-section and the birth of her own sweet son. She looked amazing and was feeling pretty good, which was a real shot of confidence for me.
I'm pretty scared about facing surgery again. Thrilled to death to meet this baby, but scared. And the fact that this evening that I've been looking forward to for so long has come and gone is proof that it will be here before I know it.
In a word: yikes.
