T-Minus 10 Weeks and Counting...

I'm in my 29th week of pregnancy. Since I'll be having a c-section in my 39th week, that gives me 10 more weeks to prepare for the wee man-child.

--We went to Ikea over the weekend and spent quite a bit on quite a few things that are now hanging around the house waiting to be assembled. Actually, until this evening they were still hanging out in the car, but our friends C. and K. came over and helped Mr. Milkweed unload the car. It's funny-- we're between two and four hours from family now, as opposed to 9+ hours, but for little things like moving furniture we're still SOL. At any rate, the urge to nest is going strong. I have lots of laundry and lots of upacking/arranging in my future.

--We have decided on the name Silas. Many of you will recognize this as the name of the protagonist from a novel by William Dean Howells, and many of you will recognize this as the name of a saint, and still others will recognize this as the name of the son of a mutual friend. As far as we know, the spirit of American Literature, God, and Ser are all OK with this.

--In the past week, I've become oh so very aware that I'm now in the third trimester. I'm exhausted and expanding faster than a water balloon in a hose, which explains the general malaise with the blog. I'm tired, people, and every ounce of energy I do possess is relegated to parenting Eva or trying to get this house in shape. I've finally started to really feel the baby move, though, as his size is starting to negate the cushioning effect of the anterior placenta. He's obviously more active if I eat a little sugar, and he LOVES it when I have Eva in my lap and read to her. Since books are more like a narrative conversation between the two of us rather than a straight-forward read, he's obviously responding to the sound of her voice. It's very, very sweet.

We love our Silas over here and I'm sure we'll love your Silas as well! Gee, I wish you were closer.

The sleep will come, just last night I had a whole 8 hours of semi-broken sleep.

Yay for Silas! How fun. The clothes are on their way--I sent them parcel post, so they will be a little while yet. But it is a box of 0-6 month man-child clothes, and some cloth diapering stuff, so hopefully that helps with the nesting urge.

And yes to what Tracy said. We wish you were closer.

Wow, I missed that you were having a c-section. Loving the name Silas.

Our little one responds much more to Maggie's voice than mine. Hopefully shim isn't disappointed to see me first rather than her :)
